based-release (1.1.0) unstable; urgency=medium

  * One deb for every base: /usr/lib/os-release and /etc/lsb-release are
    rendered by postinst from base-files' diverted copy instead of shipped
    with a hardcoded suite, so the same package installed on Debian trixie
    reads Based Linux D13 (trixie) and on Ubuntu noble Based Linux U2404
    (noble). VERSION_CODENAME, DEBIAN_VERSION_FULL and UBUNTU_CODENAME are
    carried from the base; ID_LIKE lists the base and its parents.
  * A file trigger on /usr/lib/os-release.debian re-renders after every
    base-files upgrade, so a point release shows up without a new upload.
  * /etc/issue uses agetty's \S escape (PRETTY_NAME from os-release) and
    /etc/issue.net drops the version, so both stay conffiles with one
    content everywhere.
  * Divert /etc/lsb-release too: Ubuntu's base-files ships it as a
    conffile. The obsolete 1.0.0 conffile is removed with
    dpkg-maintscript-helper.
  * preinst sets base-files' untouched /etc/motd aside as /etc/motd.debian
    instead of deleting it, so purge restores what was there: Debian's
    default on Debian, nothing on Ubuntu (whose base-files ships no motd).

based-release (1.0.0) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Initial release.
  * Native package (source format 3.0 (native), no orig tarball, no upstream
    or pristine-tar branch): the release files are our own content.
  * Ships /usr/lib/os-release, /etc/issue, /etc/issue.net, /etc/lsb-release
    and /etc/motd for Based Linux D13 on Debian trixie (ID=based,
    ID_LIKE=debian, VERSION_CODENAME=trixie).
  * preinst diverts base-files' /usr/lib/os-release, /etc/issue and
    /etc/issue.net to *.debian with dpkg-divert, so a base-files upgrade
    never puts Debian's identity back; postrm undoes the diversions (the
    two conffiles on purge, since they survive remove).
  * /etc/motd is a conffile here; preinst clears base-files' untouched
    default so dpkg installs ours, and purge copies the default back.
