ExternalDigest allows the use of implementations of MessageDigest other than BouncyCastleDigest.

Returns the MessageDigest associated with the provided hashing algorithm.

Parameters:

hashAlgorithm - String value representing the hashing algorithm

Returns:

MessageDigest MessageDigest object

Throws:

GeneralSecurityException - Thrown when something goes wrong in calculating the digest
