This program is "freeware" and may be used and copied without
fee or obligation.
See the help file for license information and for details on
installation and use.

Installation:
The .ZIP file contains these files:

file_id.diz (package information)
readme.txt (program information)
install.exe (program installer)
install.exe.sig (PGP signature)

Run the INSTALL.EXE file to install the program on your system.

Uninstall:
Use the Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall
the program.

Note:
In the event that the .INF installer does not work you
may want to perform a manual install. The help file contains
directions on how to do this. The install.exe may be unpacked
using either WinZip (latest version which handles .CABs) or by
running install.exe with /C /T: command line switches.
Example: "install.exe /C /T:c:\temp" will decompress the package
into the directory c:\temp.
You can then read the qdpgp.chm help file for directions on the
manual install process.

Note:
If a previous version of QDPGP is installed you should first
remove it before installing this version. This will avoid
leaving orphan files in the event of a subsequent uninstall
since many of the files used are different.

Note:
You need a working copy of both Pegasus Mail v3.0 and PGP v6.0
to use this plugin. It is simply an interface, not a self contained
encryptor. These programs may be obtained from:
The Pegasus Mail home page
http://www.pegasus.usa.com
The NAI / Pretty Good Privacy Inc. web site
http://www.pgp.com
The International PGP home page
http://www.pgpi.com

Note:
This version does NOT support older versions of PGP.
It is designed to work with version 6.0 and higher.

If you use PGP version 5.5.x, you should install
QDPGP version 2.12 instead.
http://community.wow.net/grt/qdpgp212.zip

If you use PGP versions 2.6.3i or 5.0i, you should install
QDPGP version 1.71a instead.
http://community.wow.net/grt/qdpgp171.zip

Note:
This version MAY not support older versions of Pegasus
Mail. It is designed to work with version 3.0 and higher.
If you are using an older version of Pegasus Mail you should
probably install QDPGP 1.71a instead. I have not tested it
with older versions.

Note:
This plugin is for the 32 bit version of Pegasus Mail running
on Win95, Win98, NT 4.0 and Win2000 (NT 5.0).
It will not work with the 16 bit version of Pegasus Mail.

Note:
The help file is in the new .CHM format (Compiled HTMLHelp)
used by Windows 98, Windows 2000 (NT 5.0) and Internet Explorer 4.01.
In order to use the help file on Windows 95 or NT 4.0 systems
you need to have installed:

(1) The Microsoft HTMLHelp Update component (version 1.1a)
http://www.microsoft.com/workshop/author/htmlhelp/hhupd.exe
MSIE 4.01 SP1 installs the older version 1.1 of the HTMLHelp
ActiveX componant.

(2) Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.02 or later)
http://www.microsoft.com/ie/
MSIE is needed because the HTMLHelp uses the Layout Engine
SHDOCVW.DLL and HTML Viewer MSHTML.DLL as well as the
HHCTRL.OCX ActiveX control.

Note:
If you experience problems with MSIE 3.02 you may need
to install DCOM95.
http://www.microsoft.com/cominfo/dcom95/

Note:
If you are using Windows NT 4.0 you should also have
Service Pack 3 or 4 installed.

Note:
If you use Netscape and would prefer not to
install MSIE, the help may be viewed online at
http://members.tripod.com/~grt/help.html
You can check the "Web Help" checkbox in QDPGP's dialog to
have it use the online help rather than the local .CHM file
when the "help" button is clicked.
The online help can be viewed with any web browser that
supports frames and Java such as Netscape Navigator 4.05.

Note:
The entire set of help pages may be downloaded from
http://members.tripod.com/~grt/help.zip
See the included README.TXT file for details on how you
can change a Registry value so that QDPGP will use the
downloaded HTML files instead of the online copies.
It will then invoke the default browser to display the
local files.

Note:
The help file is available in Adobe Acrobat .PDF format.
http://members.tripod.com/~grt/qdpgp200pdf.zip

Note:
The source code for the resource DLL and help files may
be downloaded from
http://www.geocities.com/TheTropics/3829/qdpgpsrc.zip
This is provided to allow translation of the message
strings, key management dialog and help into other
languages.
See the included README.TXT for details.

Note:
The PGP signatures may be used to verify the integrity of the
executables. The executables and help files are signed with
my PGP DH/DSS key.
