libpcap (1:1.8.1-3vyatta19) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/shared-lib.diff: fix the LIBVERSION regex that
    derives the shared-lib version suffix from debian/changelog's top
    version. It assumed no epoch, so vyatta18's epoch made it capture
    "1:1.8.1" (colon and all) instead of "1.8.1"; that colon then
    leaked into the Makefile's $(SHAREDLIB) target/prereq and GNU
    make misparsed it as a static-pattern-rule separator ("Makefile:
    384: *** target pattern contains no '%'. Stop."), which is why
    vyatta18 failed to build on OBS. Now skips an optional leading
    "N:" epoch before capturing the version.

libpcap (1:1.8.1-3vyatta18) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Add epoch 1: Debian trixie's real tcpdump depends on
    libpcap0.8t64 (>= 1.9.1), but this fork's upstream base is 1.8.1
    (SONAME/ABI-compatible, version number just lower). Without an
    epoch this makes tcpdump uninstallable alongside our libpcap0.8t64.
  * debian/control: give the libpcap0.8 Provides an explicit version
    (${binary:Version}) instead of leaving it unversioned. An
    unversioned Provides cannot satisfy a versioned Depends, which
    left vermont and vyatta-dataplane (both "Depends: libpcap0.8
    (>= 0.9.8)") unresolvable.

libpcap (1.8.1-3vyatta17) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Add debian/libpcap.pc.in, generated into libpcap0.8-dev at
    usr/lib/<multiarch>/pkgconfig/libpcap.pc. This 1.8.1-era libpcap predates
    pkg-config support entirely (only the pcap-config shell script existed
    then); DPDK 24.11 (Debian:13/standard, needed by vyatta-dataplane) looks
    libpcap up via pkg-config only and failed outright without it:
    "Package libpcap was not found in the pkg-config search path." Generated
    from a template at install time rather than backporting real pkg-config
    support into the upstream build.

libpcap (1.8.1-3vyatta16) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Rename the per-package debhelper config files to match: debian/
    libpcap0.8.{install,docs,symbols,README.Debian} -> libpcap0.8t64.*.
    vyatta15's control rename alone left dh_install with no .install file
    matching the new package name, so libpcap.so.0.8/libpcap.so.1.8.1 were
    built but never installed anywhere: "dh_missing: error: missing files,
    aborting". Also updated the symbols file's own internal package name
    (the "libpcap.so.0.8 libpcap0.8 #MINVER#" header line).

 -- DANOS <noreply@danos.io>  Mon, 28 Sep 2026 10:30:00 +0800

libpcap (1.8.1-3vyatta15) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/control: rename the runtime package libpcap0.8 to libpcap0.8t64,
    matching Debian trixie's own name for it exactly, instead of coexisting
    under the old name with Provides/Replaces/Conflicts against Debian's
    real libpcap0.8t64. That coexistence was not enough: Debian:13/standard's
    own prebuilt DPDK (librte-net-pcap, pulled in by vyatta-dataplane's
    Depends: librte-meta-allpmds) has libpcap0.8t64 baked into its own
    ${shlibs:Depends} at the exact version Debian built it against -- fixed,
    unchangeable, since we don't build DPDK ourselves -- so both "our"
    libpcap0.8 and Debian's libpcap0.8t64 were being pulled into the same
    build root regardless of Provides, and Conflicts (correctly) refused to
    let both install: "libpcap0.8t64 conflicts with libpcap0.8" both ways.
    Being the actual libpcap0.8t64 ourselves removes the second candidate
    entirely -- there is only ever the one package satisfying that name now,
    ours, with DANOS's own patches (shared-lib.diff, vyatta-dataplane.patch)
    still applied. libpcap0.8-dev's own name and its consumers (libvirt, ppp)
    are unaffected; only its internal Depends now points at the new name.

libpcap (1.8.1-3vyatta14) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/control: libpcap0.8-dev now Provides: libpcap-dev. Five packages
    (dpdk, ndpi, vermont, vyatta-dataplane, vyatta-ndpi-support) declare a
    generic "libpcap-dev (>= 1.7.0)" Build-Depends matching Debian's own
    package name, not this project's versioned "libpcap0.8-dev" -- without
    this Provides, that generic name could only be satisfied by Debian's
    real libpcap-dev, which depends on libpcap0.8t64 and conflicts with our
    own libpcap0.8 pulled in by other packages still using the old name in
    the same build root: "libpcap0.8t64 conflicts with libpcap0.8" both
    ways. It also means vyatta-dataplane would otherwise have built against
    Debian's stock libpcap instead of this project's fork -- missing
    vyatta-dataplane.patch's own pcap-vyatta-dataplane.c capture backend
    entirely, a correctness bug hiding behind the resolver failure.

 -- DANOS <noreply@danos.io>  Mon, 28 Sep 2026 09:30:00 +0800

libpcap (1.8.1-3vyatta13) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/control: libpcap0.8 now Provides/Replaces/Conflicts: libpcap0.8t64.
    Debian:13/standard's own base repo ships its libpcap as libpcap0.8t64
    (the 64-bit time_t transition rename), which conflicts outright with
    this project's own libpcap0.8 -- every package depending on either name
    (vyatta-dataplane and 20+ others, confirmed via osc results --verbose:
    "libpcap0.8t64 conflicts with libpcap0.8 / obsoletes libpcap0.8") was
    unresolvable project-wide as a result, even though libpcap0.8 itself
    built fine. This keeps DANOS's own fork (needed for
    vyatta-dataplane.patch's pcap-vyatta-dataplane.c capture backend) as the
    package actually installed, rather than retiring it for Debian's -- that
    would mean rebasing the DANOS patch onto libpcap 1.10.5's newer API, a
    larger change out of scope here.

 -- DANOS <noreply@danos.io>  Mon, 28 Sep 2026 09:00:00 +0800

libpcap (1.8.1-3vyatta12) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/series: restore the 10 patches this file lost in
    bdaab8b661e ("Build against libnl"), an otherwise-unrelated commit that
    also accidentally emptied series (that commit's own build evidence shows
    the patches were still applied when it ran, so the loss was in the git
    history, not the actual build, until the next OBS build re-exported from
    a clean git tree and found none of them applied).
  * Restoring shared-lib.diff in particular fixes the resulting OBS build
    failure: with no patches applied, upstream's own Makefile.in derives the
    shared library's SONAME from VERSION's major component ("1.8.1" -> "1"),
    producing libpcap.so.1, while debian/libpcap0.8.symbols and every
    dependent package still expect libpcap.so.0.8. shared-lib.diff is what
    pins the SONAME to Debian's historical 0.8 scheme.
  * Untrack libpcap-symbols.lds: the same bdaab8b commit also committed this
    file directly (content-identical to what linker-script.diff itself
    creates), which went unnoticed while series was empty and the patch
    wasn't applying, but conflicts with the patch now that it is: "The next
    patch would create the file libpcap-symbols.lds, which already exists!".
