Description: btrfs snapshots in the GRUB boot menu
grub-btrfs adds a submenu to GRUB that lists the btrfs snapshots of the root
filesystem, so a snapshot Snapper or Timeshift took before an update can be
booted when the update left the system broken. A booted snapshot is
read-only and changes nothing on disk.
 .
The grub.d script finds the snapshots whenever update-grub runs. The
grub-btrfsd service watches /.snapshots, Snapper's directory, and rewrites the
submenu when a snapshot is created or deleted, so the menu stays current
between kernel updates. On a root filesystem that is not btrfs the script
lists nothing and the service does not start.
