Originally three layout options. Variant D is the chosen direction (your idea — stacked compact LCD selectors + small comp-cluster knobs in the SAT/EQ row left half). Variants A/B/C kept for comparison. Red-glow widgets are the new v0.6.0 controls; everything else is approximate placement of existing controls.
tAnH / dIOdE / CUbIC) + CLIP DRV + N DECAY + ACCENT.
EQ unchanged on the right. SAT/EQ row grows by ~22px to fit two stacked sub-rows; STEP grid + DICE shift down. CLIP MODE labels use lowercase n in tAnH because the 7-segment glyph table doesn't define uppercase N.
Visual symmetry between SAT and CLIP — they're sibling stages (master-bus saturation vs per-voice waveshaper). Compact dimensions free up enough horizontal room to fit the four new controls without crowding. Re-uses the existing comp-cluster style so nothing visually invented.
7-seg glyph coverage verified for all CLIP labels. lcd_selector refactor adds id_source param to avoid egui Id collision. Captions stay below knobs (current convention). Window has 74px slack so the 22px row extension fits at all UI scales.
One row to find every "character" control. No vertical layout change. CLIP MODE sits next to SAT MODE — visually obvious they're related.
SAT/EQ row gets crowded (11 widgets across). MID NOISE DECAY is semantically MID, not SAT — knob hunting later. ACCENT is unrelated to either.
Maximum visibility — these are the v0.6.0 features and they get a row of their own. Plenty of horizontal breathing room. Easy to introduce in marketing visuals.
Adds vertical height — plugin window grows. Existing rows untouched but the layout feels less compact. Sparser knob density than the rest of the panel.
Each new control lives next to its conceptual cousins — discoverable. No new row, no crowded row. Re-uses the existing layout rhythm.
v0.6.0 features are scattered across three rows — harder to point to in a release reel. MID row gets one extra knob (8 → 9); MASTER row gains one (5 → 6). Both still fit comfortably.
