GCC created a.out anyway.  Did you try to running it after chmod +s.  After 
you follow the instructions, it should work.

It does not work! Even when I changed XF86_VGA16 to XF86_SVGA.
Is the Eltorito, gcc uptodate?
I get the following error message when I compile sudo.c and clrusr.c
