OPT_HDTUNE 3.2.1

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OPT_HDTUNE allows to use DMA mode for IDE harddiscs. To do this, the neccessary
kernel module will be loaded and afterwards the DMA mode will be activated for
all harddiscs using hdparm.

kernel-modules-extra is not neccessary for FLI4L 3.2.0 or later!

Important: DMA mode can cause loss of data, depending on the used chipset and
driver! Use on your own risk!

Positive feedback with the used kernel module and the used hardware to
extend the documentation is always welcome.

Configuration
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OPT_HDTUNE

With OPT_HDTUNE='yes' the package will be activated

HDTUNE_MODULE

Name of the kernel module to load. With many older mainboards based on
an Intel chipset, you can use "piix". On my own board, based on VIA MVP3
and a K6/2, i had to use "via82cxxx". If the module does not support the
mainboard chipset, the DMA mode can not be activated.

The possible values are listed in the configuration file.
